How Master Custom Knifesmith Kirk Rexroat Designed the WrightKnife

We recently asked Kirk Rexroat, what inspired him to design the blade on the Triple Eight Professional WrightKnife and this is what he said:
Here in Wyoming a knife isn't a weapon but an indispensable tool. No matter what the task, whether I'm hunting, fishing, working with livestock, or at the coal mine (Kirk works in one of the largest coal mines in the world keeping their equipment running - wk), I've found the drop point blade shape to be the most functionally diverse. With this in mind, I designed the Wrightknife just for those myriad of tasks each day where a knife comes in mighty handy. Weighing only two ounces it can be tucked into your pocket or clipped to the inside of a purse to be there when you need it. The Triple Eight Professional WrightKnife makes it easier to live by that old rule of thumb to always have a knife in your pocket.

How Roy Huntington (Editor of American Handgunner and +20 Year Veteran Street Cop) Invented the CopTool

After a career on the police department breaking all manner of folding and fixed-bladed knives, it dawned on me I didn’t need a knife — I needed a “tool.” I realized I used an old screwdriver more than I used a big knife, and the small pocket folder I had took care of the general cutting duties. Once I retired, I designed a 6" “fixed-bladed” tool with a belt cutter, scraper and serrated cutting edge. It sold exceptionally well to law enforcement, military and even to the trades like mechanics, construction workers, truckers and anyone who needed a tough “tool” for cutting, scraping, prying and the like.

When Triple Eight came to me and offered to make a folding version, it seemed a natural idea. The final result — the Triple Eight Professional CopTool — exceeds my expectations. It performs all out of proportion to its size, and would have definitely been a part of my daily carry “kit” when I was on-duty.

Gun Week Story on Triple Eight Professional

Hello All,

Thought I'd share a really cool story that Dave Workman of Gun Week Magazine wrote about Triple Eight Professional in the last issue of Gun Week. Dave actually called me after SHOT Show and conducted an interview with me on how we came up with the product line and what we're all about. It was a real honor for a small company like ours to have a whole story written on us by a nationally distributed periodical. Best part is Dave understood how focused we are on delivering an innovative, high quality product at a price most people could afford. It's what we're about. Thanks for taking the time to visit our site.
